I live about 3 miles outside of Elizabethtown, Kentucky and yesterday I had to go to town to run a few errands. Yes we still call that going to town here. It was about 3:00 pm when I got to town. There were plenty of folks out and traffic was thick. All of the restaurants were doing a brisk business. Walmart, Target and Best Buy parking lots were full or nearly full with folks buying imported products and I'm thinking the economy must be picking up.
So you think the Blue Dog Democrats and thier Republican bedfellas are fiscally conservative? Does $187.1 million in campaign contributions from health and insurance interests sound conservative? Maybe it does to the C Street crowd, but to this dumb ass Hillbilly it sounds like a pay off to me. Reckon this bunch prayed over the definition of fiscally conservative before they took the $187.1 million? Ok enough ranting, let's get to the facts.
* Members of five committees working on health care reform legislation received $187.1 million in campaign contributions over their career from health and insurance interests
* Elected officials who voted against health reform legislation received 65% more in contributions from health and insurance interests than officials who voted for reform
* Health reform legislation is bottled up in two committees whose members have received nearly $100 million in campaign contributions from vested industries. Click hereto read the entire report.

July 15, 2009 I posted this article, "Support for Public Option Health Care Rally at Congressman Davis' District Office." So I thought what the Hell, I'll drive the 140 miles and try to capture this with video. When I arrived I found 3 people at the Rally, John Waltz, his wife Janie Waltz and Lucy Sterling and I thought to myself this is a Rally? I guess John Waltz saw my frustration and doubt and he said, we're a little short on people today, but there will be plenty of participation. I thought plenty of participation? What in the Hell is this young man talking about? John Waltz then suggested I set my camcorder up to shoot video of him and his wife holding signs and capture all the horns honking in support of a Public Option Health Care Plan. I did what he suggested and much to my amazement the participation began, the folks driving on Buttermilk Pike, in Fort Mitchell, KY. began to honk their horns in approval of a Public Option Health Care Plan and Geoff Davis's offices on both sides of the street were hearing the horns honking. It's been a long time since I've seen a politician actually stand up for what he or she believes in, no matter what the odds, shades of Andrew Horne. John Waltz Act Blue Page. When Daniel Mongiardo came to Radcliff, Kentucky I had the opportunity to ask him about Single Payer Health Care. His answer and the video is after the hump. The audio is not as good as I would like there was too much interference to use a wireless mic. As I have said in a previous post our goal here is not to criticize the candidates, but to inform you so you can make a decision in the Kentucky Democratic U.S. Senatorial Primary based on facts.
